Rebecca Sanders is a self-taught German photographic artist. Her surreal and mystical images are dedicated to the exploration of the self and questions our common understanding of reality.

The artist consciously avoids being defined by the conventions and expectations of the traditional world, stripping her art down to its core. By avoiding all attachments like titles, narratives, and an artistic biography, she creates the opportunity of raw and unfiltered communication between the observer and her art. Her approach fosters contemplation and introspection by having an intimate inner dialogue with art and ourselves.



ARTIST STATEMENT

I have always been interested in what lies beneath the surface—and in questioning

what most people accept as a given or fundamentally true. In this context, the world of the surreal often seemed to be more real and authentic than what I observed around me. Thus, I began to look and delve deeper—giving expression to my perceptions and personal insights through experimental photography, abstract painting, and short texts.

Initially, I focused on the human psyche—our subconscious, the landscape of our dreams as the language of the soul, and the question of what shapes and molds our identity. Subsequently, my scope expanded, and I began to explore the deeper nature of reality. It was at this point that AI became my primary artistic medium.

Through my artistic work, I create a space that invites deep reflection , while simultaneously challenging prevailing paradigms of all kinds and the principle of a society directed by external authorities. The individual and their uniqueness, as well as the pursuit of true freedom, are the driving force behind my work. With my strictly contemplative exhibition format, which I install upon invitation, I create a quiet space from from conventional art talk, in which people can explore the deeper layers of existence and establish a more profound and intuitive connection with themselves.
