Visual Artist

BIO

Rebecca Sanders is a German visual artist. Her introspective, surreal photographic images, mostly featuring female portraits, invite free and highly personal interpretations. To facilitate this, Sanders refrains from assigning titles to her works, as these would influence the viewer's perception. She employs various styles, ranging from mystical-surreal compositions to minimalist and poetic works. However, what unites her images is a unique, often mysterious aura that seems to transport us into other worlds. Sanders' artistic philosophy holds that art can be a transformative catalyst, allowing us to explore and rediscover ourselves. Her works are available in limited editions.

ARTIST STATEMENT

I do not see myself as an artist in the traditional sense, but rather as a projector of impulses that I transmit to other people. I am intrigued by the idea of influencing the inner world of the viewers through art – to stimulate and redirect their perception in new directions. Therefore, the focus in my work is not on visual or technical perfection, nor on the artistic process itself, but more on affecting the psyche of an individual. The aim of my images is to create a contemplative space that penetrates the subconscious of people to trigger intuitive and very personal inner reactions.

My artistic perspective is deeply influenced by the psychology of Carl Gustav Jung, particularly his metaphysical/spiritual theories and viewpoints. At its core, my work aims to overcome internal conflicts that arise from the tension between external influences and an individual's (self-) perception. It offers the opportunity to question existing perspectives and to expand one's own horizons in an intuitive way - without being disturbed in this process by distracting information about myself, my artistic process or my artistic career. I have deliberately chosen not to provide such information in order to ensure that what happens between my art and the viewer corresponds to my intentions: the dissolution of inner boundaries and the expansion of the viewer’s perspective on the world.

Looking to the future, I intend to experiment with video and incorporate sound to create a more immersive experience, enabling the viewer to engage more profoundly with the psychological and spiritual aspects of my work.
