Gatherings reviving the spirit of true avantgarde

The Velvet Room Salons
are exclusive, multiple-day gatherings of a carefully curated group of extraordinary people.

Independent & progressive thinkers longing for meaningful and profound conversations that are hard to find in everyday life.

My salons are a shared space & experience based on a clear and strict philosophy.

Organized & people-wise carefully curated by me, Rebecca Sanders—a German independent artist

who explores psychological, philosophical, and transcendent realms through photographic art and short texts.

What unites the participants is our rejection of superficiality and our openness for unconventional topics and ideas.

With my Velvet Room Salons,

I have created something I have long searched for in this world:

A space where my art can unfold its deeper magicserving as a silent catalyst instead of being academically discussed and analyzed. Underlining the coming together of non-traditional people, enjoying exchange beyond formal academia. Our goal is to immerse ourselves together in the depths of our spirit, without the mental corset of established norms, conventions, and paradigmsenriched by an atmosphere that delivers truthful inspiration.

My Salons are for (40+) people who feel generally drawn to the topics I explore with my art.

It's not mandatory, but anyone who has no prior experience with more abstract topics and ideas will not feel at home in the Velvet Room. It provides an explicit framework for exchanging our ideas outside the mainstream. And since every participant fundamentally shapes our shared experience, an inner reference to the deeper layers of our existence is indispensable.

You might be...

a psychologist, scientist, or philosopher.

A writer, musician or visual artist.

An architect or designer, a visionary entrepreneur or a consultant,

A curator or an art gallery owner seeking inspiration

outside of the superciciality of the traditional art world.

You might be something completely different to all of that,

and you don’t need to have an academic background (so don’t I).

But what actually matters is that you can contribute to the spirit & philosophy

of the Velvet Room in some way. Just being here and listening isn’t enough,

because the quality of my events is based on the presence of each personality in the room.

Authenticity and the willingness to connect with each other with total openness are mandatory.

Philosophy

While the term "the Velvet Room" refers to an almost utopian form of existence in a performance-driven

and increasingly narcissistic society, my salons are temporarly real places with a refinded but unpretentious character.

An attempt to create something that seems to have been lost long ago.

Here, we allow ourselves to be romantics, nostalgics, and dreamers—with unconventional ideas and world views.

There’s no performance thinking or adaptation to mediocracy in our gatherings, but also no room for the ego.

Reproduced ideas, rehearsed theories, and second-hand thinking aren't welcome, because we aim to share thoughts, insights, and wisdom that arise from within.

We meet authentically and with total emotional openness, aiming to being enriched rather than lecturing each other.

Outside of the Velvet Room Salon Events, participants can stay connected through a private Facebook group.

This allows us to stay in touch & to meet online from time to time to maintain our special community—until we might see each other at another event at another location.

The application process

for the first Velvet Room Salon,

taking place in the magical city of Paris,

is now open!

The 2-days event will take place

between may and the end of august.
